How to Adopt a Curious Detachment

Doing any new, hard thing is … trying.

Adopting a curious detachment really helps when you’re at something challenging and new. This is sometimes described as “holding it loosely”.

I really like this phrase. I use it in my coaching practice often.

It can really help you keep things in perspective. Because, you can only control what you can control.

If it’s outside what you can control, then there’s nothing much you can do.

Will you win the project, land the job, or sing the song perfectly at karoke? 🎶

Hard to know.

So, focus on what you can control, and hold it loosely.

If it falls through your grasp, then so be it. You keep at it. Believe. Let people and circumstances respond however they will.

That’s their thing. And that’s okay too.
